Skandic
With all the nov snow in our area, I decided to buy a sled to get to our hunting cabin , haul out game, and firewood . I bought a skandic with the 600 e tec and 20 inch track. The machine is a beast I picked it to work, but I was really surprised how much fun and how much jam it has . Not your your grampas worksled !!!

I bought a Polaris Voyager this year. 600cc, 144" track and a cross over for utility work. It's great. Work and play. The sleds being turned out are better than 10 years ago.

I have been running a VK Professional 20" for about 5 yrs now but i am seriously leaning towards a Skandic or Tundra for next year. Do you find the 20" hard to handle? Is like the rest of the widetracks and once it start to tip it wants to keep going? How much mileage are you getting per tank? Does it have high and low range? And anything else you can think of.

High low and reverse. Will tip nose in at slow speeds (10 inch ski skins should take care of that) in deep snow. Handling is good if you throw your weight around. Aprox tankand half for the first 400km. Go,s faster than I want to go in high and will pull a ld of birch up a hill with 2 men riding with out a snort. 120 horse power in the etec

I have a 2012 550F WT and the 20" track takes some getting use to. It pulls like a mule and if you hit the throttle it hauls. won't ripe the bars out of your hand fast but will get me across the lake in a hurry.

They have come a long way from the twin tracked, single ski beasts they used to be.

The fuel injected etec will stArt at 40 below in a second. And you better be holding on tight if you open that 2 stroke up!

The 2 strokes are suppose to start in very cold temps but as I found out this year if your battery is not fully charge they will not go. It was -37c and my sons 1995 Polaris 340 Indy lite was froze stiff(both were outside on the trailer). 5-6 pulls loosened the 340 up and it fired up. the 550f was a no show.
The 550F is fun to ride and is near impossible to get stuck and if you do just backup, well most of the time. lol

I had VK540, always started, fast enough for me but in deep snow if it started tipping was hard to keep upright especially in the bush.

I am running the 11" skins on my VK and i think they could go with an extra 2" to the inside to make a better ski. I find my VK extremely tippy but after a few yrs of fiddling with the suspension settings it is way ahead of the stock settings. I purchased mine and the previous owner had it set up so bad on a pond @ 30 mph it felt like it was going to flip over. I think i am going back to the 16" track for my next machine.
