Yup, I don't think it's quite as fancy as the one you have but so far I like it.

Good call, my other sturgeon setup is an 8'6" MH/Fast Clarus with a Corvalus on it...you'll enjoy yours I promise
My new Abu is a 6500 C3, and I put it on a 9'6" ( ) Rapala North Coast MH/moderate fast salmon/steelhead rod. The rod is a little overkill for around here, but the price was right and man can I get some crazy long casts with this setup!

Nah, I didn't bother taking any measurements...I was mostly there just to hang outside in the quiet by the river...the fish were just a bonus

lol..... Very effective for fishing for Rockies if not fly fishing. Keeps flies up off the bottom and the hanger prevents snagging, just tickling the rocks.

Nice fish, that was my usual species when I lived in Calgary, probably caught thousands over the years. The coathanger weight is best for rocky bottoms, rarely get snagged and if you do you can either pull it free or break it off and then you leave a weight that just rusts away and not lead. I cut them into 3 pieces, bend them in a tight "V" and use one or two depending on the current strength, so they just tap the bottom as they drift along. Tried a lot of other things for weights but those were the best. and free too. Rockies are a blast on super light rods and 2 to 4 pound test line. especially when you get into 3 and 4 pounders in heavy current.

That new 9'6" rod is gonna look mighty sweet in that new walker electric dowrigger this summer when we are chasing lakers! Starting to loose alot of sleep daydreaming about being back on the water stalking trout like a British Destroyer hunting U-Boats on the open Atlantic! OH YABABY!n

I can picture the exact image you're picturing! I think the 9'6" would be a little excessive in your boat though...I'll probably just stick with the beefy trolling rod I was using last season...if it aint' broke...
Gotta figure out what line diameter that Cabelas reel is calibrated for though so the line counter works properly
