Nice mount! I need to get one so I can hang it in the guest room when the mother in law is staying over.

Think I would have liked to see a little more shoulder. But, that's just me.

I'm gonna have my next bear done the same way. Very practical way to display a trophy.

Do you have to get the rest of the hide tanned when you do that? I would like a bear shoulder mount to!
And nice wolfs to both of you!

I would had a litle more shoulder as well, or a full mount. nice job but the shortage of animal doesnt do it justice in my eyes.

It is actually the same form as Grizzly Adams.....the only difference is dealing with an animal that has less hair (early September kill) compared to a wolf with longer hair with Grizzly Adams wolf. If it were a Winter wolf, you wouldn't even see the shoulder....just 4" long hair which would give the wolf a very full and larger body look.

something just doesn't look right.....i cant quite put my finger on it.
Then again, i'm not a fan of shoulder mounted wolves to begin with....
Glad you're happy with it! That's all that matters

Taking a guess here. I think the camera/lens settings are off. The picture may have some distortion in the proportions of the wolf due to field curvature issues. The depth of field (focus) is small.

wolf
I think what everyone can't put their finger on is the short hair of an early season wolf. I think the taxidermy looks great and you should be happy with a fine trophy.

No it's definitely the taxidermy. But taxidermy like all art is subjective.

To me it's because it's coming out of the wall...not mounted on a plaque or dressed up backing. Otherwise it's pretty cool!

Pretty sure I saw this mount when I was in picking up some work from Marco, and the taxidermy work looked good in person. It is definitely a short haired wolf and I think that is why it has that particular look to it. Congrats on taking a wolf out of the woods.

Congrats on your Wolf ! Marco does my work as well and i would not take my stuff to anyone else...But if it was me I would have done a rug or Full Mount.
You being happy with it is all that matters...

I like it.
I also like the spot on the wall. It's like the Whitetail is saying- "Don't look now. It's right behind us"

Yea head mounts are much nicer than rug mounts, get more of a 3D angles of the head.
Picture is a very old mount from years back.
