Default 4 hp

looking at a 4 hp outboard, about 38lbs. Can I use this on a 16 foot canoe? I like that is has a shift lever as opposed to 180 spin around.

I would think so?

Does your canoe have a flat back transom with a motor mount?

If it does it likely has a HP rating on it somewhere.

6hp on my 18' Mackenzie Sport. Would like an 8 to go upriver a bit faster. A 4 will be fine.

Decent weight for a 4hp with gears. If you dont want it let me know where it is at please. I have a 4hp on my Mac sport 16.5 and it does 10-11 MPH lightly loaded.
