Default Dog Collar - Garmin Alpha GPS use in Canada?

Good Morning Gunners,
Is anyone using the Garmin Alpha GPS dog collar in Canada?

A friend of mine will be here for a week in September to gun Hungarian Partridge / train dogs with me in Southern Alberta. I have one English Setter, he as one adult and two pup English Setters. He would like to use his collars in the field but has heard that Garmin disables some or all features due to these MURS units not being allowed to be used in Canada.

Please let me know if you are using these units in the field up here.

Thanks,
Mark Huff

Yeah I am using Alpha 100 all over Alberta and BC and it works well for me. Make sure to get a bundle. It has been working amazing for me for the past 5 years.

They don’t disable anything.

I bought my Alpha 2 years ago. I cannot remember the details but it is for the Canadian market. As I recall the US versions used in Canada would be disabled when tried. The Canadian version is less precise...Canadian government doesn't want civilians with the more accurate GPS capabilities that are available. Maybe that has all changed but his Alphas may only briefly work...do some research...

So yeah, I checked this Garmin collars comparison, and it seems that every model to be working worldwide. There are bunch of them for different purposes but don't worry it works well in Alberta
