Default Missing Dog (NE Calgary)

I'm asking for your help here folks.

Our really good friends had their purebred boxer escape on them yesterday (Tuesday, January 25).

The year and a half old male was last seen at the corner of 80th ave and Taradale Drive NE, Calgary. This was a jobsite and NOT the actual residence which is in the far NW.

Over 100 man hours and dozens of signs have been posted in the search thus far with nothing to show for it.

Animal services and all vet clinics in the area have been notified.

The dog answers to the name of 'Chomper', and at 1.5 years of age is still a goofy and friendly pup. He was purchased as a one year birthday present for their son and is a huge part of their family.

Please keep your eyes peeled. You can PM me for contact info. Thanks in advance.

Default Does he have a chip?

If I see him I'll take him to the Vet at Castelridge. They will scan him. Sorry about your dog?

Was he wearing his collar?

Report the dog missing on Petlynx. If he wandered out of the City he would have been taken to the Calgary Humane Society (they take in out of Calgary strays), give them a call.

Hmmm ... I'm becoming concerned. It's been two full days and still no word of recovery (on this thread, or from my contacts in the area). At least the weather has been quite mild.

After this amount of time, I'm guessing that someone has taken him in. Here's hoping they do the right thing and report to the City Pound, or the CHS.

Checked the pound again and still no sign of the dog.
Sure hope that he shows up soon, especially with the weather about to get cold and ugly again.

have you checked with the vets around you?

our dog got off once and the person who found him dropped him off there. lots of people won't drop off dogs at the pound or SPCA cuz they are afraid the owner won't find the dog in time.

good luck

I got my area covered Tree.
I'm going to have to be the one to say it I guess. Everyone keep a look for dogs on a leash too. There are people that will keep them. It almost happened to me. Our Chihuahua got out one day and just when I finally spotted him, I watched the guy that had him take his collar and tag off and throw it onto the neighbors lawn. He stood up carrying my dog and was walking back to his front door.
I got to him before he got in and got my dog back.

A beautiful dog like that might be too nice for someone to give back.

I'm not trying to be a downer here, but just want everyone to look at dogs on leashes too.

Don't want to sound to alarmist here but...try Kijiji (?). Finder may be trying to sell, it's happened before.

Shaggy, we think very much alike. At this point none of us believe the dog is holed up somewhere.

They had call from a vet before 8am this morning. The doc was on her way to work and saw a dog at large that perfectly matched the description. She called right away. Although being very aggresive, she still managed to capture the animal and get it to her office.

They raced accross the city and it wasn't him....

Pretty tough morning to say the least. Thanks for watching guys.

Don't laugh,

Our office dog and one of the guys rotties ended up on the C-train. They went for a ride from Ranchlands to downtown. They escaped capture for 4 days.
Finally got caught.

LOL - that sounds like the GAL was aggressive. Of course, maybe she had to be, to catch the dog .

I sure hope the dog is found, safe. Wish I could help.

Chomper has been found!

Some guy picked up the pooch on Wednesday and took him home. Apparently he was once in the same boat himself, so watched petlinks.com for a posting, for missing signs, and then just saw the ad posted in the paper today and called them an hour ago. No reward asked for at all.

There are good folks in this world still. Thanks to everyone for everything, the support was greatly appreciated.

Wow! The story just gets better.......

Dog is in Red Deer of all places.

The guy was with his crew of 4 and found the dog in traffic on Stoney Trail a full day after it went missing. The five of these guys went out onto the road and managed to catch him.

They travel back and forth to Red Deer from Calgary every day for work. Usually his own dog tags along, but he left her home and made Chomper their mascot for the past few days while trying to search the internet on his phone. This afternoon he was looking through the paper and saw the ad and called. They're staying in Red Deer tonight together and having a farewell party this evening.

He also bought a new collar and lead for them, as well because he didn't like the current one. To top it off, he categorically refuses to accept anything in return. Said he's been there, done that and knows how it feels.

So, Peter, whoever you are thank you. Your selfless act has made a huge difference in a young family's life.

Thanks must also be given to the Calgary Boxer Society for their efforts as well.

Gotta love a happy ending!
