Interesting hunter
http://themeateater.com/
Have not watched the show yet but heard this guy on a talk show promoting his book and I am very impressed. He had a very calm collected way of explaining why we love to hunt. Seemed like a far better representative for hunters than Ted nugent.

I think I've seen the show once, if this is the guy who lives in New York or something. I like the concept. I'm a "meat hunter".

I have never seen the show or the guy. No disrespect, but if you hunt just for the meat, it's cheaper at Safeway. We hunt for the sport, shoot what you want and eat what you shoot. Thats my motto.

It has been a sport for a lot more that 20 years. Just sayin' if your hunting for meat, cheaper by the pound at the butcher shop. I have never or would I ever say that I hunt just for the meat. If you get some venison that's a bonus

:argue2 For many, many, many years we have had to endure the anti hunters.
They will never go away, why fight them, it is a fight we or they will never win? Bow your heads and walk away, when they need something to eat they will call you.

Last year was my first time hunting in 15 years, mid November and no fresh snow. Did not see a single elk in 4 days, but had the best time of my life! Great people, peace and quiet, no cell phones, empty freezer. The hunt is the fun part, the meat is the reward for doing it well. Just my opinion.....

How do you figure meat is cheaper at Safeway? Shoot a moose, cut it up, freezer full for winter, don't have to butcher a beef, sell the cow, money ahead. I grew up on moose meat, we never had beef and my wife rarely buys meat at the store.

I guess I was thinking that by the time you buy the licence, tags, tanks full of gas. Not to mention the time and labor put into hunting, and the time butchering these guys. Also if you don't cut it yourself there is the cost to have someone do it for you. If you get your moose the first day, you are definatley ahead. So right on now you don't have to hunt the rest of the season, but if your like me thats not going to happen. I go out opening day and every day I can until the last day. Also arguing this point is like talking to anti hunters, nobody is going to win.
