6 lbs line? Way to add the element of danger! lol try that with a Sturgeon, if you're successful you're the man! Nice pics by the way, nice racks and cool pic with the bears running your camp..

Were you fishing for perch? Can't figure out why you would only use 6 lb line...

Incidental catch is not uncommon.
Example: fishing for walleye with light jig and 4 pound test line. Catch 20 pound pike(or any large pike). Not uncommon if you fish a bit.
Happens just as much when sturgeon fishing(but hope you are geared for it then). Have caught and lost sturgeon while fishing for goldeye too. It is what it is.
I use the gear for the intended target fish. Cant help if other fish bite.

Good job, I have never fished a trout lake with pike in it but I am guessing it is a pain since you must lose a lot of lures to those toothy critters.

I agree! 80/lb braid should be mandatory in AB !

Beautiful pike!
I once caught a 12lb and 10lb walleye on 6lb test within an hour of each other! Great fights.

6lbs test is all I ever use! If I'm going for pike I tie 20lbs fluorocarbon on as a leader.

Great looking fish!
6lb mono is all I used for years, and then I went to 8lb braid a couple years after it came out. The only time I use anything different now is for ice fishing because the thin braid was able to slice through your hand too easy when bringing up a fish through the ice. I switched back to mono for that.
