Default Pond Liner

Plastic or clay?

What is cheaper? What is better?

What size? Clay has the advantage of fitting what ever size/shape you want.

Maybe 50ft x100ft x12 deep.

I would need to get the clay hauled in.

you can often get the used 50mil poly from oilfield applications if you know who to talk to at local facilities. It's easy to weld together yourself

I don't know who sets up those frack tanks down there but you could talk to them about a liner. Be kinda neat to take you dirt from the hole and make a water slide.

With those frack tanks we put down a layer of geo than the liner.

Poly for a silage pit might work to. Probably price that at ufa.

We did a 50x100 pond last summer with clay. Liners are heavy and expensive and have their pros and cons. Look up Bentonite. PM me for more info if you like.

Clay is typically cheaper and the synthetic liner is typically better. These types of things are very site specific though, and its difficult to provide the correct answer with limited information.

And then once you've discovered the nature of the soil, you'll likely determine you don't want to use it. And if you do utilize it, use it in a limited roll.

Maybe look at a used Ag-bag the ones used to temp store grain in the field. Opened up then just might fit the bill. Plenty of them in southern ab and free for the asking.

Call Layfield Plastics in Edmonton they do supply and install of all types of liners from oilfield to leach pads etc. They fabricate some pretty large liners for every industry.
