Ok no wind, temperature warmed up ,time to do some gong ringing with the 6.5mm creedmoor,142 gr bullets----range 600 m took a couple of shots to zero, then fire, lift the ear protection, count to about three then hear that satisfying 'bong"you can actually group on the gong--next 1000m--hard to get that no wind day.

The ring of that gong hit at long range.....priceless. Good luck, but don't be afraid to shoot in the wind either.

Are we allow to shoot out of the box of a truck like that? I have often wanted to throw even a table in there but wasn't sure of the legality.

Gongs are great.

Reactive targets are all I shoot at once I'm sighted in.

Truck shooting is fine so long as your not hunting.

It is illegal whether you are hunting, or shooting targets.

X2 yup. I was shooting off the roof of my truck at gophers on my own land 25 years ago and a fish cop was nice enough to let me know it was illegal.

I don't see any laws being broken. As far as I am concerned, bolt is open. For all we know he is just spotting the target.
It is pretty cool to be ringing gongs at 600 yards plus.

I never complain,or in fact break the law,but my fly will bring the self righteous out of the woodwork---you were so easy--a negative element and so predictable-----

I have no idea what Montana’s firearms law is. Here I know it’s illegal.

I love my 6.5cm. It’s it’s fantastic in the wind out to 1000m. Just practice in as many conditions and take notes. It becomes easier and more satisfying!

Im excited to get mine out.
I bought a 6.5creed rem 700 barrelled action. Its a 24" with an 1/8 twist. I bought a Hogue overmould stock but that was a complete POS so I ordered up the magpul setup. I was going to go with a bell and carlson but i liked that magpul makes the matching bottom metal and magazine. I was going to put a vortex viper pst but instead went with the Leupold vx3i LRP 8.5-25x50 first focal with tmr reticle.
Instead of taking it out in the snow, I am going to wait for the first sunny warm spring day. Pretty excited.
On a side note, my next step is to do a little bedding job. Magpul says its not needed but I think it cant hurt. Anyone in Edmonton good at this? Im a autobody tech so Im sure I could do a nice job. But its always easier to watch someone experienced do a nice bedding job. If there are any of you guys want to teach me... Like i said im sure I could do a nice job.
