Default Ice off Cold Lake

I'm starting a little pool when ice will be off cold Lake, and when I mean ice off Cold Lake let's say open past Garnet point I will donate a fillet knife to the winner. I'm going to make a guess of May 23rd.

Last year around the 20th of May .... (whatever date was the first opening weekend).

Half the lake was impassable by ice on Friday. You could probably ice fish in the middle of the lake.

Sunday lake was pretty much wide open with a few small berg patches.

Google, near provincial park, French bay etc long slivers of water, I call back bays....you will see on a map.
Northerns and the eyes are in there thick as thieves, not always cooperating but man if the bit is on...eyes the size of Northerns hunker in there....freakish fish don't even look like a walleye. Throw in a few hog Northerns too....then they disperse out to the big lake harder to target etc.

We Gotta have a meet up out on Cold Lake or in camp. I'll be out there with my wife testing out our new boat and catching Lakers. We can't wait to get the new prototype rig in the water.

Swing by our site and say hi and see our new Eagle Kokanee Tournament boat from Outlaw Eagle Manufacturing.

Shoot me a PM for site if you want to chat

Ice is 99% off....just chunks floating around, plus 27 today so should make short work of it but still be careful, you only see the top 1/3rd of the ice the rest is below and can really wreck your outing.
Back bays are 100 % ice free so boys looks like the opener is going to be good for eyes, gators and lakers

There is still some ice sheets in french bay, main lake looks good from town but if the wind shifts then the ice sheets that are on the east side of the lake will push to the west. Be careful out there!!
