As per usual didn’t even mark a fish till 5:30 and then caught 3 walleye and about a 7 lb. burbot from 5:30 till 6:15.

Spent a few hours on the lake today, very slow. One walleye in 4 hours and lost it just below the ice. Went on at Mulhurst, 4x4 is needed for sure if you plan to travel away from the boat launch. F&W stop by for a chat, they had only seen 5 other groups on the lake...….cold and windy, packed up and headed home. Will fill tags another day.....

I got out yesterday to silver beach again at the point around 230 and had a lot of action with big northerns. Walleye bite kicked in at 430. Landed 11 in 2 1/2 hrs. First time I’ve ever caught really small walleye. 2 were under 40 cm but they were really aggressive. Good evening in all.

Fished the provincial park Saturday from 1:00-5:15. Didn’t mark any fish on the flasher until about 4:00. No bites. There was one group packing up as I got there and the one other shack that was there is now gone. Gonna move my shack next weekend if the weather is ok. Access was good.

Does anyone know why the fishing is so bad there in the winter but so good in the summer?

Nothing for structure there is what I’m guessing. They seem to use it as a travel route in the summer. Baitfish are more plentiful on the north west side in the summer and the fish migrate to that area. That’s my unscientific answer. I’ve always had luck in the winter months if you can find an area with some depth changes and a rocky bottom. That’s for walleye. Good luck next time you are out.

We got a pretty good dump of snow through last night & the majority of today. So keep your head up if heading out even if you have decent tires & 4 wheel. The drifts are pretty good with the wind we got. So getting stuck wasn’t all that hard to do today.

Good morning, I am looking to head to Pigeon this week and I am wondering how much snow is on top of the ice? Are there trails out for a 4x4 or do I need a sled? Thank you for any feedback.

I recommend a sled. There are some trails cut out there but it depends where you want to go. I beat up my truck trying to get to where I had good spots but give up before i wrecked something. You can get on at Mulhurst and golden days

You can get around with decent tires & 4 wheel with the recent warm temps now.

Thank you, The truck has new tires and I have chains, so sounds like I should be good. I would be heading to Mulhurst/Silver Beach area. Thanks again everyone.

I’m out at silver beach now. It was a lot of slush in the first part where ya drive in at Mulhurst but once you get past where all the permanent shacks were it’s smooth sailing. Keep to the west a little when ya head south and don’t take an old trail. Making a new one is a lot smoother. Good luck to ya.

I went on Sunday. Got on by Silver Beach. There was a bit of water at the shore on the way back but no problems. Where the snow was a bit deeper it slowed me down a bit on the lake but I made my own tracks wherever I went with no issues.

Thursday night drove out to silver beach. Ice was up to the handles still. There is floodwater as you drive on and some ruts for a bit but driving is easy after that. I’m always nervous driving into the water off any launch cause ya never know if the ice has separated off the shoreline. I’m never the first one out. The usual walleye bite started at 8pm. Caught 4 all B class. Good luck to all that venture out for the final days of ice season.

Thanks for that update Racker, figured it would be fine. Hoping to fill some last tags for the kids/wife tomorrow evening for the final trip of the season....

Drove on at Grandview on Thursday night. Ice is a little punky but still ok.. Bite was around 8 PM as mentioned. Filled 3 Class C in 20 minutes. Nothing like waiting till the last minute.

Mulhurst access looks done unless you have a side by side. People still driving on at the provincial park this morning.
