Anybody out there that can explain Friday's increase ? We are sitting at $ 1.34/ltr in Canmore. Up 10 cents over night.

Who cares about a bit of greed “er” I should say supply/demand adjustment? The only part we should not embrace is the carbon tax. Nothing wrong with a company making profit, it is a pillar of capitalism.

I don't get bitching about gas
It's up 44 cents a litre since I started driving, milk is over a dollar more a litre since same year, beer is almost double from same year. Don't hear anyone bitching about it

I am pleased that you enjoy paying an extortionist price for gas.
Whatever makes you happy.

I've really payed attention to the carbon tax impact, but after checking out that rise in fuel costs per liter, I decided to check out the carbon tax impact. 4.49 cents to 6.73 cents per liter

Gas prices will jump as high and long as buyers allow. You ain't seen nothin' yet.
Reduce demand, and price will fall. Them's the rules, whether in gasoline, real estate, or tomato sauce.
So just don't buy. Summer's coming anyway, and a good road bicycle will cost you the same as a set of new Michelins for your truck. Fug'em all.

I have seen $1.56 diesel.
Reduce demand they wont make as much $ so they will jack the price up 'because a refinery is down for maintenance'.
Pretty tough to haul a boat to BC behind a bicycle. People living in an apartment in the city doesn't mean much to anyone that has to drive for work.
It's legal extortion, nothing else.

Let’s go back in time to your 2016 archery season:

I thought it was funny seeing as you actually have control over something like that, but you still felt the need to have a good b!tch session.
Back to the topic at hand- I appreciate that a lot of different factors affect gas prices, but with oil being so low for years it’s strange that you really don’t see it reflected at the pumps. Really strange, in fact

Some questions:
Must be nice to be independently wealthy.
Do you own a gas station?
Your comment about tampons seems a little confusing. Are you saying that you are female and that, unlike other females, rising prices don't trigger a sudden unscheduled start of your menstrual cycle?
I am male by the way. Perhaps you could explain how some little ladies like yourself do experience peculiar menstrual cycles.
Inquiring minds want to know.

I spend about 12 bucks every two weeks for milk, I spend 160 bucks every two weeks on gas.
-that is why people are bitching

Cost me $50 to fill my sled today with regular plus another $30 in diesel just to go to the lake for the day, ridiculous!
I could fill the sled last winter for $40 with high test, Now $50 for regular, for a snowmobile!

Bit of a double edged sword for me, seems when oil/gas prices rise, so does the amount of business that comes through my doors. So tough to complain for me. Really does seem ridiculous though.
Just wait if ol trumpy really starts dropping the bombs.... im betting that will make fuel prices soar, but at the same time could send alot of people back to work.

I wouldn't agree with that simply inflating fuel prices on some pretext will ensure that profits increase.
If increased prices result in people cancelling longer and optional recreational trips, then fuel consumption goes down, and corporate income goes down, or at least it does not increase. High fuel costs make people think about dumping their recreational vehicles.
Increase fuel costs more to compensate, and then people start becoming very conscious and careful about unnecessary local trips, and start saving errands
until they can make them in one fuel-saving circular trip on the same day.
If fuel costs remain high enough long enough, then people start trading off the gas guzzlers and buy sub-compacts to save on fuel.
If you drive to work, then there may not be much that you can do.
But, many people do cut back on road travel, if it's cutting into their budget for other things that they need or want.

It’s also shutdown season. Just spent almost a month on the road between Syncrude and Suncor’s Edmonton refinery getting things started. Happens every year.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it jumps to $1.40/$1.50 during shutdown.

If the price of gas is a top priority in your life consider yourself lucky.
I wish I had time to agonize over it.

Up almost a dollar since I started.
I don't see dairy farmers routinely jacking up the prices. Those went up as a cause of the Carbon Tax.
Government is trying to control us on sin taxes so beer and smokes also took a hit.
But when a butterfly farts in the Caribbean, and causes a hurricane in the gulf that seems like a good reason to raise prices.

If there was no carbon tax, would we be complaining? I think not!

Mehh, I’m by no means an old reliable of this forum, but as long as I’ve been on here there’s been complaints over fuel prices. And using the search function brings up many such threads from before the carbon tax!

It probably has something to do with USA tensions with Russia over Syria preceding the bombings and waiting for the aftermath, the Carbon tax makes it even more exaggerated and its shutdown season not to mention Opec is limiting its production i believe, so i guess stuffs adding up, gas is 129.9 here in Calgary
sorry if someone said this already

Gasoline is a commodity that rises and falls.
There is no oil companies making unfair rate of return.
Calling a price rise criminal is totally uncalled for.
If you need knowledge on the subject I would suggest you research the Chicago hub pricing.
That is the location that sets prices in North America. Then transport and special additive costs depending upon company gets added.
If you are referring to the high taxes as being criminal I would agree with that. I feel robbed by the government also.
Sorry. It wasn't clear who you were calling criminals.
