Ken, just wondering what the breaking in process is for a marine application such as yours?

Good on you guys! Glad to hear it all went well!
And I didn't hear any profanities at all...

let it idle no more than 5 mins
first 20 hours- idle in gear 1500-1800 rpm
put in gear and warm up under load.

for longevity do not run sustained near WOT

It went well, but really there are 4 bolts holding the engine in place. The lions share of the time was figuring out things, where to put hoses for install, making sure nothing was caught during removal, making absolutely sure nothing at all was missed. I enjoyed it, and honestly my heart was pumping with 1000lbs hanging under the home made forklift extensions. I was more at ease when I added the straps like craneworks, but likely were not required. Alignment was a pain in the butt, and I am not certain we were 100% there, but it worked.

The engine runs fine again, and all the components are in good condition. With some cleanup, compression test and inspections I am certain I will get good money for a complete drop in.

Where did you get the engine from? I may be in the market for a new 5.7 as well.

Well, I reckon that would mean at least 148,000 clamps...better do a pressure test on the hoses, wouldn't want 1 clamp being loose

Ken would that engine have been run up on a dyno already? The reason I ask is that with chrome rings you need to get the engine as hot as possible (not overheat range but as high of operating temp) and set it to high loads as quick as possible and keep it hot and working for about an hour or so. When we fire new engines we run a few seconds and top up fluids. Then start again. Idle to insure oil pressure, no leaks, and start loading the crap out of it.

I'm not sure, just going by what the guys that are giving me warranty say to do.

That feeling when it started after finishing the job must have been awesome.
