Default Wmu410 canmore

Recently moved to Canmore , looking for information on where to start looking for sheep. I tried F&W but their offices are closed. I'm just looking for information on where to start hiking it's a big area and I have never been around here before. I dont plan on hunting them this year but would like to start familiarizing myself to the area.

Exshaw Creek, Cougar Creeek, and Pigeon Mtn are a good start for hiking in 410, as well as a ton of great spots to hike in 408 and some decent access north in 412

FYI Cougar Creek is closed to hiking at the moment for construction of the dry dam. Check canmore.ca

Makes sense! Few other spots around for sure when you draw the tag. I had it back in 2010 and sure was a fun slog! If you call -38 fun haha.

Did you manage to get one? I’m thinking of pulling my tag next year. Any advice?

I hit and wounded a ram on the 27th or 28th of November. Was located by another guy again on the 30th chasing ewes but never got on him. Was also seen after season. Hit him dead center in body, likely a bit farther back than I wanted as he was quartering a bit more than I had originally thought. I had other opportunities after that but did not shoot. Tough hunt, and hung up my bow for 5 years after that one.

It was an extremely cold year, with a lot of snow. Past knee deep in a lot of places and -35 and colder for at least a week.

Advice...hunt hard and dont look for any shortcuts. Get prepared mentally and physically. Scout and learn some trails and areas. Look for a few spots that are out of the way vs the regular hunted areas. Enjoy it, I wish like hell I had another chance.

Meindl Winter 800s. They don't make them anymore but have been pretty good. Wore them at Cadomin the same year and combined an Arctic Shield cover for the longer sits up there

There is still a general season that finishes end of October. The draw hunters get the month of November.
