You can bowhunt without a PAL, but if you intend to hunt with a firearm, you either need to have a valid PAL, or hunt under the direct supervision of a PAL holder.

Above is correct, you can also hunt with a Flintlock as you don't need a PAL to own one of those.

I swear, these accounts that are years old but only have single or maybe double-digit post counts are members with multiple accounts who just log-on to their "ghost user" and post these asinine questions - just to get a kick out of the responses and see if they can generate any controversy...

Like, "I DON'T HAVE MY GUN LICENSE YET, BUT WILL SOMEBODY SELL ME A CHEAP HUNTING RIFLE ?"

I thought that might be the case too so looked at his other posts. I think this is actually a young guy turning 18 so figured I would give him some helpful info. Considering he has been hunting a few years, based off other posts, kind of surprised no PAL and that he doesn't know the rules any better than he seems to, but we all had to learn some place.

Ya I am thanks for understanding. I know lots of the rules and regulations just was unclear with this and that’s why I am asking to be sure before making a Wrong decision. Anyways what I am trying to say is I usually go with my dad but this summer my brother turned 18 and we both had our youth firearms license and now he is waiting for his adult license so I was wondering would me and him still be able to go hunt now with a firearm.

The way I understand it he needs his adult PAL to now use a firearm as his youth pal in no longer valid and there is no grace period. You can hunt with him once he gets his adult pal and written permission from your parents.

That’s what I was also thinking but I just wanted to be 100 percent sure because a couple adults told me that now me and him can go hunt on our own with written permission from my parents.
