I have caught a tonne of Arctic Char when I worked in Cambridge Bay.....I can with 99.9% certainty say that is not an Arctic Char.

Very observant. I was trolling for public opinion as I knew it would be divided. This poll has proven a great tool. I'll post the fishes identity soon enough.
If nothing else it goes to show that following the reg's (knowing your species) isn't always that easy. Particularly if your a tourist or a new fisher person. In fact, with a 100pg regulations manual I find it hard to believe that many fines could stand up in court. It is almost to the point that fisher people will have to take a course in order to get a license.
As well, with the recent thread about poaching at the K-lakes, it is absolutely unacceptable that there are not large, well illustrated signs that describe the ecology of the lakes, the fish species and all the regs at both lakes near the parking lots. With the volume of vacationing part-time fishers there I find it very surprising. To many people, a trout, is a trout.
Local Reg's should be posted with images of species at all major access points to water bodies. This includes every single boat launch.

Everyone knows you bake a bulltrout, not fry it. Good try though.

you can see from this image of a peacock bass that the two are nearly indistinguishable.

Ya too bad Ghost Lake isn't connected to the Missouri River. Having those flying carp in there would make it a QUALITY FISHERY if we could set the reg's at 50cm+

here, watch this video of a guy from Maine on brook trout and brown trout, maybe it will help out with those still unsure if it is a brown trout, atlantic salmon, or an AZN blowfish...

Oarfish
You got it. An oarfish.
It's not quite as good as my first oarfish.
I'm 5th from the left in the front row. Those were the days!

Not all browns have blue spots on their cheeks, female browns have smaller heads then males, all browns have different spotting and very differed. If he could give some info on where this fish was caught, (not exact location) it would help a lot. Is the river connected to the ocean, is the lake connected to the river thats connected to the ocean. If there is no ocean, its a brown. Unless its east coast then it could be a landlocked atlantic.
Although it does amuse me with 4 votes going to bull trout, a few going to arctic char. You at least gotta know how to identify trout from a char. Otherwise im worried about our waters...

Brown Trout
Reasons
1: spots with lighter halos surrounding them.
2: squire tail
3: Mouth is hooked similar to a salmon as brown trout are in the Salmonidae family, and I don't believe it's a salmon because of color.
