Each resident of alberta is entitled to keep 5 fish from a stocked pond that allows a harvest of five fish, regardless of thier age. So if you go out and take your mom, wife, and kid, you each can harvest 5 fish, so a total of 20 fish. BUT you all have to be fishing, not one of you fishing and the rest are just there to increase the limit by saying that they are fishing. That is poaching.

i have a question. lets say you are ice fishing. you set up tip ups for the kids and they are skating, snowball fights, whatever. would you consider this poaching as the kids are more interested in other things than fishing?. just wondering what your thoughts are.

As long as they are close enough to "man" the rod/tip-up....then its cool. Otherwise you are fishing 8 rods by yourself ....ice fishing is a bit more of a grey area....

AO must give out purple heart awards for posting poacher issues here, rather than following the simple guidlines in the regulations.
