Default 234 Antlered Muley

hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone was drawn for this year? Any success in the past in 234. I wonder how the cull worked there on the bucks?

Thinking of trying to get an undersubscribed in available.

But want to know if its worth it.

work in that area continually.....very few after the cull...which was not needed...some how SRD has decided that the Mules have to go....nothing to do with CWD....rather see them give any sex licenses to youths for $5....anyone else????

My parents live out by Edgerton and I have been going up there with very good results for years. Been up there a couple of times this year and haven't seen anything at all. Parents haven't seen much either. A great area has been ruined and I think it will take quite a few years for it to be productive again. I didn't even bother putting in for up there this year.

Still lots of great deer and lots of deer. Some areas never got hit by the SRD CWD cull or hunters.
Take a look at the CWD maps and stay away from some of the common hunting areas and the hunting is still great.
No where close to being ruined.

234 is just across the highway from me and while I haven't taken any specific tours that way looking for deer I can believe that area will be skimpy hunting for a few years. Many thousands of deer were slaughtered.

You hit the nail on the head, they want to really cut the muley herd along the border. Muley doe tags in our area are not even on a draw this year they are open, and you can,t get one tag you have to take 2. I encourage anyone that does need the meat not to participate in this cull. The cwd used to be called old age or mother nature, until use start testing for it. This could have been prevented if the herd in Manitou lake park was thinned years ago. But that's a sask. issue.

I'm with Shedcrazy !!I hunt 234 every year that I can and there is some Whopper Bucks to be found ,especially if you get out of the truck.
I saw a nice Non typical first day of season last year but my draw was in 202.
My sons are both drawn there this year and a Moose tag to boot so it's gonna be a fun trip with em.
In fact i saw more Mulies than Whitetails last Fall.Put the time in SteveY66 and you will get a decent deer.

I am originally from a farm between Chauvin and Provost and most of the deer are gone in that area. There are a few mules and white tail to be found but not many at all. To get good results you will have to head north west of Edgerton. I was drawn for 234 mule buck and I will be heading up there the second week of November.

Guys,

I got drawn for a mulie doe in 232 this year. I've never been up there and it will be my first hunt in this area. I was wondering if the same has happend to 232 as you described for 234??
Does anyone know how it looks like in 232??
Any advice or information would be great!!

Thanks
Markus

Hey chicken,

I hunted 232 for mulie buck last year, mulie doe should be no problem there, saw lots, it shouldn't change too much from last year. Had only 4 days to hunt but we ended up getting one 4x4. I thought we would see more deer there, but then again it was hot and dry and i only made it out there for 4 days. I got my bull moose draw for 232, so i'll be heading out with the bow sometime in Sept.

Thanks for all your help guys,

I talked to some landowners out there and they've told me if you put your time in and hunt hard you will find a good buck. Passing the smaller ones is the key.

I'm really looking forward to see some wainwright country, all new to me.

I talked to someone that didn't get drawn for 234 so I doubt there will be undersubscribed tags if the hunter didn't make an error in applying (which happens!).

I know a few guys who put in for 234 mulie buck and didn't get it as well. Including me!! I highly doubt there will be any undersubscribed...

My clan around Chauvin have been watching a few good Muleys. All three of us were drawn.
