Am i required a tag to hunt wolves? I looked through my hunters reg book and couldnt find any info on wolves, maybe im just blind cause im sure it has to be in there somewere. I dont know a lot about tags, draws etc. So if someone could point me in the direction of how it all work that would be great.
Timber Wolf
A Resident may, without a licence, hunt (but not trap) timber wolf from the opening of any big game season in a particular WMU to May 31, 2010, or until June 15, 2010 in WMUs where black bear seasons are open until June 15, 2010.
A Non-resident or Non-resident Alien who holds a Non-resident/Non-resident Alien Wolf/Coyote Licence may hunt (but not trap) timber wolf from the opening of any big game season in a particular WMU to May 31, 2010, or until June 15, 2010 in WMUs where black bear seasons are open until June 15, 2010.
It is unlawful to use bait to hunt wolves during spring black bear seasons where baiting is not allowed for black bear (scroll up to view Attention Wolf Hunters!).
I'm trying to learn all these hunting words but in other words this means I can hunt wolves during big game season without a license? All I would need than is my wildlife certificate?
Ok, what they are saying is that you don't need to buy a tag to hunt wolves. The season is from the opening day of any big-game season (such as archery) till May 31st of the following year unless the spring black bear season goes to June 15th in the Wildlife Management Unit(WMU) that you wish to hunt wolves in, then you can hunt them till June 15th. Hope that helps ya some! I also recommend that you go to your local Fish and Wildlife office and pic up a copy of the hunting regulations and also talk to a F&W officer. Good luck with your hunting!
