Default Alberta Trappers Handbook

Has all the details for making stretchers. I can look in the book but the details are very specific over the length of a four foot piece of wood telling you the width of one half the stretcher all along the length of board. the picture would be much easier to understand than a written description but I wil see if I can find it tonight.

NAFA's web site probably has the dimensions somewhere.

Yes I have been on You Tube, there is a vast array of trapping knowledge to be seen, and yes I have seen Ryan5911's video, they just look different in shape, was told a simple 2 1x4 construction with a round head section of the first 12" of stretcher.

We used hockey sticks with a screw at the top and a piece at the bottom to hold the width. Worked pretty good.

PCP,

If you can't make it to the ATA, Trapper Gord has good boards and ships the next day. You can also check Halford hides, they always have lots in stock.
It is nice to have one to start with....also, I recommend trying a few different styles as you will find over time that you prefer one to the other. It sucks when you make a bunch of the boards that you end not up hating.
