Default UV resins

Looking for comments/experience in use of UV epoxy resins for chironomid bodies and finishing minnow patterns with stick-on eyes. I bought some fast cure clear UV epoxy resin from Canadian Llama but seems a bit on the thin side. Once cured however does make a smooth finish.

I've been using Solarez for tying some jellybean scuds. The thick is too thick but the medium and thin are great to work with. This seemed most versatile for my uses as it was not too thin. Fishin Hole carries it.

Used thin for these.

The Solarez "Bone Dry" stuff has been working great for me on chironomid bodies.

Solarez is pretty cool stuff.

Solarez thin/hard for chironomids and thick/hard for other stuff seems to work pretty well.

Ordered this from ( Fish Tales or one of the other fly shops in Calgary) with a small UV light.

I agree the solarez is pretty awesome. It cure hard and dry. I did find that I seemed to have a slight reaction to it. Probably the fumes it can give off. It was barely noticeable. Since I’ve been using the Gulff brand and have notices less fumes and really similar properties to work with. Plus gulff has a massive selection of colors, viscosity. Both work awesome, but I’m a little partial to gulf now.

If you are in Edmonton, Reid’s carries gulff and the guys at the shop have lots of experience using it for heads on baitfish patterns. I’ve used the thin man on nymphs and chiromids and it’s awesome.

I might have to give the Gulff a try.

Yes. Reid's is great. Nice guys with some good products. Good to support a small business.
