Default Shiningbank Lake

Well Dustin and I hit Shiningbank around 1 this afternoon. Trolled mostly the north side and caught around 13 pike total there with nothing being overly big but they were fiesty.

We then proceeded to our walleye honey hole from a couple of years back but we only managed more pike, about 6 total. It was at this spot I pulled the bonehead manuover of the year so far. Caught one pike and he had my jig hooked in the back of his mouth. Got the jaw spreaders out, spread his jaws and got my hook out no problemo and promptly released the fish only to realize it still had my jaw spreaders in his mouth. Hopefully they fall out ASAP for him!

Oh and we got checked on the water by F+W.

how was the lake???i know the spot your talking about...so do about 100 others and unfoutnatly some kept wallys even though it has 0 catch limit...used to get 30-40 4-7 pounders a day now we are lucky to catch 1....i always said all the wallys were big ones no smaller ones...just shows there not reproducing....what a shame aqs we basicly live at shinning bank in the summer....

Lake was as I remembered it although the boat launch at the day use area could use a little work. Yeah you used to catch some real nice walleyes on the lake in that spot but last time I was there, Family Day long weekend when the IMHA was first in place, there was a net strung across the honey hole. I know there were complaints to the MLA on it but F+W said it was the IMHA and nothing they could do about it. Not saying the netting caused the poor walleye fishing now, just stating there was a net there.

Water level in the lake is going to come up by 3 feet when you drop that thing in there!

Nice boat by the way. Dock at the day us area seemed fine as 3 or 4 boats used it including myself.
