Default 30-30 bullets in 308

I have some 30-30 160gn FTX left over from my 30-30 lever. I just bought a 308. What do you guys think on using the FTX in the 308? These are just the bullets not ammo, I reload my own.

I am also curious about this. They are the same diameter at .308 so I would think it would work?

Default yes

They are .308 dia load away...some bullets may be designed to expand at lower velocities and when driven fast may come apart but they are safe to load.......Harold

FTX bullets have a fairly stout jacket. A couple hundred feet per second shouldn't bust one up. Best way to test would be to shoot a row of water jugs and try to capture it.

I've loaded 170g sierras in my .308 and they hold up nicely. Use load data for a heavier projectile to start.

The only difference I see is the cannelure and maybe a bit of OAL.

I load for max O.A.L., 0.020-0.025" from touching so the cannelure shouldn't`t be a problem. It`s also a bolt action and I don`t crimp. I`ll have to try a few and see what happens. I been saving up some milk jugs.
