Default Trump reverses ban on importation of elephant remains

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/world/tr...-ban-1.4405791

Interesting news coming out of the states- not often you see restrictions opening up

Nice that Jr. can advocate for sportsmen, and i could never in my lifetime scrape together enough cash for an elephant hunt

Allowing the legal hunters to bring their trophies home helps the source nation to fight poaching, it's pretty obvious to most of us but if someone disagrees just link them this video. While the video doesn't exactly portray hunters in a flattering light it does do a good job of explaining the poaching issue and the local perspectives.

There are a number countries in Africa where the elephant population has grown, and can be sustained through sport hunting. In cases like those, it has been proven the added resources in the areas reduce poaching while injecting a much needed boost in the economy.

If it's well managed, it makes sense to me.

If that is what it took to get it done, so be it, I can live with that pretty comfortably. The folks in the villages in the various zones it will affect, will be thankful for it as well. One elephant hunt camp injects more cash into their local economy than a busload of camera tourists who won't go to those areas, it adds value to the resource that will encourage them not to poach them.
