buffalo lake question

Hey guys
Headed out to buffalo lake this weekend near bashaw and going to try and do some pike fishing. Is anyone eating them out of buffalo? Heard from a friend not to eat them due to a blue green algae scare a while ago. But i cant find any such information on it.
Any advise would be great, thanks

We eat a couple here and there its not the best eating in the middle of summer but winter months its pretty killer
