Salting the fish makes it better for sure. TrophyPikeHunter brings his box of salt the few times a year we decide to keep a few for the freezer. The quality has definitely been better than just straight water.

He is kind of meticulous that way, salt bath for an hour, dry off, then wrap em'.

Nothing beats fresh however.

Milk cartons work really good for freezing fish in water. Keeps much longer.

I was out on sunday... and yup, spawn is on. Limited out in 2.5 hrs. Biggest burb maybe 6lbs. Averaging around 4lbs.

The action was non-stop!

During spawn are they active throughout the day as well? Or is it just busier after dark with little to nothing during daylight/mid day?

Wow, that must have been fun... those spawning bawls of burbs would make great underwater footage. I've never found one though.

When spawn is in full swing they are active all day, but afternoon, evening and into dark are still the most prouductive. I think we hit it just at the start as it has been dead for the weeks before.
