I've had the pleasure of seeing his trophy a few times. That's an impressive fishy!

9lbs!

And that fish did NOT come out of big water.

I've caught some +20 inchers... But they are few and far between
Ernie told us the story of how he caught that fish one time when he drove shuttle for Vic and we were floating a lower section of the Oldman. He said he basically hunted that fish. And if I remember right he even caught it once before too but it got off. Incredible fish.

Never thought about a big one coming from a lake. Good call though because they probably could produce something in that class. I was more thinking about how they aren't doing well right now and how anything you did catch would likely have a question mark beside it because of hybridization with rainbows in the rivers that could produce a fish like that.

Was lucky enough to land this 24" beauty yesterday! Maybe it was the same fish as you because it barely put up a fight! It was almost anticlimactic because it was so easy! Maybe it's the time of year? Still a beauty of a fish, I am sure it will be a while before I can beat it!

Ya no kidding it straight up looks like a rainbow. I was surprised to see the slash. I'm no biologist but that looks very little like the east slope Cutts I'm used to seeing.

Oh really? Is that what it was? I was kind of wondering but just assumed Cutthroat when I saw the slash. Are they pretty rare?

I don't know if it's a cut bow or not but really nice fish either way. Good job buddy!

Looks like it, but really depends on where it was caught. Any rainbows in those waters? Was reading an article that they are on the rise in some watersheds. Nice fish

Usually Cutbows the black spots extend below the lateral line through out the entire body. Cutties usually only dip down near the tai. You have to be really careful when both species are present. The yearlings get really hard to distinguish. I hate to admit it I have seen on more then one occasion people caught what they thought was a pure rainbow. Thrown it in there creel only upon it slightly drying out do the faint slashes appear. If you have any suspicions just let it go...
