Hey guys I was wondering if anyone out there had any input on the package deal offered at cabelas and whole sale. From the info it gives it is a weatherby Vangaurd with a bushnell banner scope 3-9x40 scope and a sling and a case. I will be looking at a 7MM. But I heard alot of pros and cons from my friends and was looking for a little more input. The only other thing I found out was it has a Howa action. and cabelas offers 2 different scopes for it the other one is a Simmons scope

Cabelas is 629 and whole sale is 619

Thanks for any input you guys can give

Heard decent things about the vanguards but the scope is crap. You can find a decent mid grade scope for around $350-500 and you will be much better off in the long run.

All Im looking for is a package deal or something cheap that I can go out with my buds with. not looking to invest alot. would only like to spend around 6 to 7 hundred.

So do you think that this would suffice for this or any other ideas?

Wholesale was selling the vanguards for $419 this last weekend when I was in there! Add on your 200 more you were gonna spend on the package and buy a better scope! Then some rings and bases would put you around $700! If you just want a cheap gun to pizz around with, buy a savage 111fcxp3 super accurate for the price! Not a pretty gun, but very functional! They come in a package for around $429! Same deal though, scope is not great!

Default Savage

Or you can get a 111 Savage with out the scope and buy a decent one. Stevens are also a great value and they have a Savage barrel. If you starting out and unsure these 2 options are a great choice.

The Weatherby rifle is just fine
The scope, an integral part of it, is not

Buy the rifle and put decent optics on it. You are actually paying premium for a low end scope

What good is a decent rifle if your optics are, well, cheap?

$419 for the rifle
$319 for. Leupold vxII 3x9x40 or a gloss vxI for $189
$45 for bases and rings

Now you have a rifle for life

WSS has $100 off the leupold vx II right now

X2, was told years back to spend same amount on scope or more as price of rifle, you won't regret it it later if you buy a good weatherproof scope.

I agree with huntinstuff, buy the vanguard and get a decent scope and sight it in only once. The cheap scope in the package will not last and you will probably end up missing or injuring an animal in the future and buying a better scope any ways and spending more money on ammo to sight it in again. So it will cost less in the long run.

99% of the scopes that come in packages suck something fierce.
