Awesome. Cool to see the official papers. Thanks for posting

That pike, it is judged on the weight of line that you caught it on correct?

Pretty awesome David. Met you this summer at Maligne and it was great of you to share info with me. You need to post the pics of your Pike and Brookie here as well. They're beauties.

So it is the world record pike caught through the ice then?

Found this info:

Currently, the IGFA recognizes a 25 kg (55 lb) pike caught by Lothar Louis in Lake of Grefeern, Germany, on the sixteenth of October in the year 1986 as the all-tackle world record northern pike.

Out of curiosity what are the requirements for them to recognize a fish as a world record? Does it require someone to verify it and if so who can verify? Does it require a photo? Are there other stipulations?

Beast of a pike. Good one!

Thanks for the post/pics Speckle, I just love reading about all of you guys and your catches. It's awesome to see so many folks having such a good time doing something they love to do. Makes my day to see all the successes and the not so successes.

On those days I just tell myself I was doing a good thing by just feeding the fish...it's what keeps ya going back.

Back in the day I caught and released a 35.5 inch walleye from Pigeon Lake. Back when you could fish in the Zeiner Park stream.....never had a scale either but she was 35.5 long and 16.5 inches around.....I suspect she was spawned out as this was in the spring.....looking back I should have paid more attention to detail and I don't even have a pic but I have 2 witnesses.

I will likely never get another walleye like that one....

A fish like that would have spawned 20+ seasons if it didn't miss any.

That fish's genetics would be represented throughout the entire population.

Thanks for posting David!

Does The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) work the same as Pope & Young...and...Boone & Crockett where any fish over a certain size is entered into the books as a trophy? I'm assuming so because they have the world record Brook Trout as "6.57 kg (14 lb 8 oz) Nipigon River, Ontario, Canada 7/1/1916 Dr. W. Cook" and yours was 12 lb 13 oz and caught in 1984.

No matter, they are all outstanding fish........just wondering is all.
