Goose loads
What are people using?? Are you buying into the hype of black cloud and the like?? I am going to be changing up from winchester super X or what ever the canadian tire cheap stuff is to a "Better" load see if that helps with the game on the ground lol.

We use Faststeel or Winchester Dri-lock when using smokeless powder loads.

10ga steel BB using Aliant's Steel powder. Otherwise I try to stick with the HD loads since I can barely hit the broad side of an elephant.

we shoot a whole lot of super-x shells every year, have you tried patterning your gun? the black cloud stuff is cool but pretty expensive, fasteel is good too but tends to be a bit dirtier than the win stuff. for the price the super x stuff doesnt have anything wrong with it

I like to use a load I feel comfortable using on ducks or geese, so I usually go with #2 load of quality stuff like black cloud or similar over standard steel in #2 or BB.

geese loads
I use any load that has around 1500fps with regular steel shot BB or bigger either 2 3/4" or 3"... I wait till they are less than 60 feet away... At that range 1 shot one kill...

Depends on the shell goong through your shotty! For myself, shooting a wingmaster, black cloud is the worst thing ive ever ran through the chamber!
Im back to winchester X in #2's. Im amazed at how many guys still shoot BB. ive highly increased my kill rate going to #2's. If you need to be shooting at birds past 35 yards, hence shooting BB, you should probably invest time into reworking your spread! Just my two cents. But to each their own

The Hevi metal shells were a vast improvement over cheap Federals for me. How they compare to other premium shells is my task for next year though.

Over decoys I don't have an issue using 3 drams of black powder and Bismuth going about 1175 FPS, I think a lot of the stuff being advertised is simply people selling stuff.
pass shpooting , maybe , but I don't like sky busting.

No sky busting?
What is the world coming to? The man that taught me said "wait until they put their feet down" and if pass shooting, "forget about shots 2 and 3. get something with the first shot" and last but not least "learn to shoot" Cam McKay Winnipeg.
Excellent advice, I don't think the problem is with the ammo, just patience, calling and more practice.
Have fun, aim for the bill.

Kent fast steel for the most part BB's
Tried Kent tungsten matrix, you can see the difference in killing power but the price, yeouch
Really toying with the idea of pulling out the Lee load-all and building some Nice Shot re-loads. Back in the day I shot a lot of birds with 1 1/2 #2 lead so maybe a 1 3/8 #2 Nice shot is worth a try, still pretty pricey though. But the cost should be $/bird

For the rounds I have patterned, the 3-1/2, 1-3/8, Win Xpert #2 and the BB were working well enough thru a factory mod or a Carlson's Xtra long range in my SBE, that I used them for the last 3-4 yrs. Hevimetal #2's patterned well, but, at the time I did them, there were perhaps some bad wads in them, I had wads punching the pattern board at 30 yds. At this point, I can't justify trying them again for the difference in price. The WW's work just fine. I also tried Kent's and Federals, didn't impress me, they would kill stuff, but, the WW's were better in my gun.
Hopefully, in the AM, or sometime tomorrow, I will shoot a few off. If the birds cooperate.
For the 20ga, I have been using #4 & #3 in Hevimetal and Federal premium 3" 1oz loads thru Imp Mod factory chokes in a CZ Ringneck. No beefs with either of those, and I haven't patterned them.
