Default Do I have the record? Sigh...

Ex soldier. Haven't fired a weapon since 2001, decided to buy a rifle (Tikka T3 lite 270)in September. Haven't fired one round due to not being able to find an outdoor range nor find a hunting partner. Guess I'll have to move back to Saskatchewan. Thoughts & or advice? Thanks ladies & gents.

There is a public range west of Calgary on hwy 1 to hwy 68. South about 15km. Then east about 10km. There are signs. It is a very busy range

Thanks for the replies. I understand the Homstead Range is a bit Um 'unsafe'. Will drive out there to check it out as I need to get some practice.

The weekend at Homestead can be a gong show, but try an odd time, say early Tuesday or Wednesday morning and you might find it more quiet; hard to say for sure at this time of year.

I went out two weeks ago on the weekend to test some loads, there was 8 vehicles in the parking lot...most where shooting sks's and the like. I left. Still need to get out to test my 243wssm and to work out my 22-250 loads.

Why not find a cut line just off the forestry road and go for a walk. Millions of acres on forestry land that you can use to sight in a rifle.

homestead range is fine, but I always head out early to avoid it being busy and never have issues.

Otherwise there is lots of country out here for shooting, its a bit of a drive to get there from the city though.

"unable to find an outdoor range" sorry to hear that but once you find a range you might find a hunting partner out at the range who knows as for moveing thats up to you good luck shoot straight.
