Default Wild boar cull in Poland not going over well with hunters

Looks like there is a lot of protesting of a wild boar cull because of the spread of Asian swine flu by hunters. It reminds one of the shat show when Alberta was trying to cull deer because of CWD. If that cull would have been allowed to continue, it is likely that the spread of CWD could have been arrested. I know the optics are not good, but sometimes doing the right thing needs to be done.

I already posted a topic like this.

I've talked to a few hunters in Poland and they said they don't see why international media is sensationalizing it. This year they killed 170 thousand boars which was less than the 280 thousand they have been killing each year ( I think that was the number). Truth is there are a lot of hogs, and people are scared because of this African swine thing, normal farmers like my family can't have pigs on their farms. You either do it illegally, or have 300 plus pigs and meet the strict requirements to have pigs for your own consumption.

Other issues are going around like 300 million Chinese infants killed every year, but nothing in the media's about that; but pigs have made headlines. Maybe America will come to help Poland like they help every country

You think that killing every single ungulate in North America is a good idea? Unless you kill all of them there is no way you can garantee you get the CWD eliminated. So if your not willing to kill all of them it’s all just blowing smoke and bad management.

And knowbody wants to loose every whitetail, elk, moose, muledeer.

I am positive there have been CWD, swine flue, bird flue ect for a 1000 years but now we have governments spending tax payers money on all kinds of tests and research. 100 years ago a deer would die great great grandpa would say I saw a dead deer think to himself it must have been sick? 100 years ago great great grandpa would see a sickly looking deer shoot it burry it. Life goes on. Now we got trigger happy fish cops flying in helicopters shooting everything they can out of the air leaving bodies laying for birds and predators to eat. Helicopter and fishcops and expensive desease testing payed by our money. Now they are giving out way more draw tags with hunters doing the leg work Eliminating muledeer by the 1000s. But never eliminating the CWD, only thing they are messed up was the health number of muledeer in southern Alberta.

Media always thrives on Fake News. Animal stories gets the Great Unwashed way more stirred up than real issues. We' should be concerned about African Swine disease here, it would be the porcine equivalent of CWD.
