Went out yesterday evening and had this buck come by at about 7:15pm, let the arrow fly and watched him run 70yds before falling over within sight of the stand. Pumped to get a full velvet still on the 3rd. Looking forward to seeing him when he is done at the Taxidermist!

Love seeing all those archery harvests, congrats to the other posters.

Shoot straight!

Thanks! Got him to the taxidermist yesterday, taped him at 6'6. Teeth were worn right down all around, figures he's 11-12 years old. Lots of scars all over his face, couple rips in his ears, and nose looks like its been broken. Old bruiser

Managed to bag a young bull this morning. Elite Synergy, Cabela’s ACC with a Montec Stryker broadhead. Double lung from 26 yards and he was toast about 30 yards away in about 3 minutes. Fun times!

Did he bugle? Did you call him in with cow or Bugle? Others with him?

Give us the juicy details!

You bet, he let one rip at about 840am while I was walking out. I stopped and cow called 2-3 times, checked the wind and walked back down the trail about 200 yards, cow chirping a couple more times. I got to where I figure he was straight south of me and I heard more cow calling about 50 yards south. He must have heard me walking, snapping small twigs and stuff. He came straight north to the trail - he was actually making a really soft kind of mewing noise as he came in. At 845am he stepped out on the trail and when he stuck his nose in my track I loosed an arrow. I don’t think he lived 2-3 minutes after that.

For reference, here is a shot of what good blood looks like

When all the stars align and the hard work pays off. Watched this deer from the start off summer and slowly patterned him and with some luck finally got a arrow into him last night. He was a old deer that was going down hill all his teeth were worn down to nothing and his shear body size compared to the other deer made him one of my target bucks. Can’t beat the feeling of being up close and personal and getting a shot off at ground level with a mature buck.

Got this bull to commit on Saturday evening at about 7. This was the 5th bull we had in that day, but the only one that was legal that would present a shot. We had a double header going, one from the north and this one from the south coming in slowly. This raghorn finally commited and gave me a 16 yard shot. He went about 35 or 40 yards and fell over. He was dead in less than 30 seconds. We continued to work on the other bull but it just wouldnt happen for us. We had him hanging in the cooler and the stuff cleaned up by 11:30. happy to have got the freezer tag out of the way early so i can focus on a moose and get ready for the deer rut!

Beauty! Were they bulging much? What was your calling strategy like? Always love hearing the nitty gritty haha.

Not sure bout the look alike lol

Came out of bush to field and seen two bucks at edge of field. Thought they were the same ones I seen going in which were just small guys. But when I put binos up saw the nice rack. Wind was perfect. They were walking straight into wind and I dropped pack and started to sneak up on them. Bout 300 yards they went into bush just as I was getting close. Sneaked into bush and saw him bedded down. Had a shot at the neck so took it. Broke his neck and he stayed put. Bout 10 yards away. Back to camp and came back out to check it out cause bush was pretty thick. Found him laying there. Nothing to epic but everything worked out with the heavy wind keeping noise down. Was a good hunt

Ya. I checked the camera of interest and it doesnt look like he is going to finish out as well as i thought. He's missing a lot of the points on the back. Im confident he will gross in the mid to low 190's, but wont net as high as last years. Im just praying that i get an opportunity at him this year!
