Chub, are you asking about Police? Are you asking about ice fishing after April 1st. If so, yes you can.

Sorry, have not been down there recently, however the ice is melting fast all over the south. Ridge has a few open water areas already; the east end is ice free in some big areas. I don't think I would be venturing out on the ice too far these days.
Police is a fair bit higher, and likely had a lot more snow.... but still.

So....
While out fishing the other day,, my Pa and I have always noticed a series of coulees that hold water all year round. 1 in particular has a stream that feeds it and departs it. We met a farmer familiar with it who knows the property owner is interested in stocking it but doesn't want a gong show of fishernuts, he wants it accessible but in moderation,,, private yet public. Private would allow singular management and public for culling/thinning.
Which got me thinking about you guys up in/near Edmonchuck. Have any of you guys gone a'scouting,, got to know people with big ponds a'doin nuthin?
Big ponds that you could steward?
There were some good ideas on here.
And I'm not trying to create a saloon door that needs kicking by re-opening this debate.

Well thats probably gonna happen now
Was wondering if/when someone would reopen this thread.
On another note, the Police Lake issue(questionair)(sp) ended May 31 and I believe Terry Clayton will review and make a decision on keeping it as a quality fishery or reverting back to the old ways.

Has anyone fished Police lately? I am curious... I heard there were lots over 18 inches. With refined stocking management...over 20's...here we come.

I thought you were giving a nod to Harry Potter,, this thread is akin to saying Voldemort,, How many newbies will be enticed to read it from end to end? Not Harry Potter but this thread.
Come on Dave,,, 1 post and you tie Sundance for the most posts on this thread, 2 and you win,, right now you are second to him.

Would that be 10 "quality" sized trout or 10 eating sized ones that I keep.

i helped design it....its very verstile
1 large bulltrout from K-lakes
5 medium trout from Police or Bullshead
10 stockers from any lake in alberta. The little guffers taste best.
i designed it with a extra long handle, so when the stocking tanker shows up you can just reach out and PAN your 15 trout as long as there is 2 more people in your truck.

the bald eagles left K lakes...the bulls are way to skinny for them to bother chasing them anymore

Would this trout fit in your frying pan? I caught it in the Morinville Rez yesterday and I took the picture of me releasing it myself.

The water has really cleaned up in Morinville, must be the filtering action from all the shopping carts.

Yeah, it cleaned up really good. The crows were taking diapers out of the garbage cans and dropping them in the water. When they washed up on shore we gathered them all up and got rid of them. Kinda like little spill kits.

Thats what I heard as well.
Caught 18 the first time out but spent alot of time playing with electronics.
15 of the fish were about 16 to 19"(but were unmeasured). What a blast catching fish that were consistantly over 12".

I just checked the report on the 2011 trout stocking program in the Spring:
Muir - 5700 RB trout - 18 cm
Police - 3200 RB trout 17 cm & 26800 RB trout 18 cm
Bullshead - 19900 RB trout 26 cm
About the same as last year..........numbers reduced from 2009.
So, is this the right amount/size of trout to put into these waters in order to grow trout big/fast enough for you "quality" anglers?
Why not head out to one of these regulary stocked lakes?
Cow - 56 RB - 51 cm
Dickson - 100 RB - 59 cm & 260 RB - 65 cm
Nordegg Borrow Pit - PHYLLIS LAKE - SHUNDA LAKE (FISH LAKE) - TWIN LAKES - NICHOLAS SHERAN PARK POND all had trout released into them between 49 cm to 59 cm in length. (check for numbers of trout)
Who were the fellas claiming that the lakes get fished out right away and you couldn't find a RB trout over 50 cm anywhere except in the "quality" lakes?

Cast out's (Broodstock) from the hatchery. They've done their job and are released. Although enjoyable to catch they are not in the same shape as a fish that has grown up in a lake for a couple of years and are not as smart.

Awwwww...........so they're not trouty enough to be a part of your "quality" trout fishery then. Only good lookin', intelligent trout are trouty enough. You'd think that those savy "quality" trout in Muir would catch on after getting hooked 100 times before reaching the 50 cm mark.

Not sure if any newbies to the AO fishing forums know, but if you signed on in May of 2011, you have to read this thread from end to end then post a brief on what you think but it can only be phrased in a way that fans of Star Wars would understand. I can't beleive that admin didn't inform you of this entry stipulation. Now get reading.
