Default good lakes or places to fish near kelowna

Hey everyone, im heading to kelowna here soon in august and am unfamiliar with the surrounding lakes and rivers so I thought I would ask my fellow fisherman Anyway we will be down there in the middle of the month for a week and will be tenting it aswell. so hopefully there are campgrounds near or at the fishing spots. we also have a zebec inflatable so we can launch anywhere. thanks in advance

Default Kelowna

My old home town, There are a host of Trout lakes in and around Kelowna. Hathume Lake, Woods lake, Bear lake and a hundred more not to mention Okanagan and Woods. If you go south to Ossoyos you will find Bass. Drop into a local tackle shop to see what is working.

I found Okanagan tough to fish with all the boat / ski boat traffic, relatively unproductive and just plain distracting (if you catch my drift).

I would go to one of the surrounding lakes as suggested.

The kids were catching lots of giant pike-minnows off the dock and having fun with that - at least they bite consistently in there.

Thanks for your replies I looked at a good map and there are ALOT of places to go. I just want to have a successful trip on an awesome smaller lake with amazing scenery just my wife, 7 yr old son and myself. I'm excited I've never fished b.c ever anywhere and have only been there once before but really wasn't even into fishing yet. We just hung out with family on the beaches and walked around and looked at stuff.

I"m heading out around Kelowna on the 22nd with the girlfriend to camp/fish for a week. So many places to go I don't even know where to start. I'm looking for a smaller lake & campground that has good shoreline to fly fish from. Not picky on what fish they hold. I'll let you know how it goes

Check out the Dee lake chain http://www.deelakeresort.com/chain-map/
There is small a user maintained campsite on beaver lake. At the turnoff to beaver lake resort go left and about a km further you will find a narrow bush road to your right, head down there and have fun. Make sure you bring wedding bands if you spin cast, olive, dark red and black leaches for flies. If you have time go talk to the guys at trout waters. http://www.troutwaters.ca/
They are a good bunch of guys and always have info and fishing reports for all the local lakes. Btw I have no connection to either of the companies mentioned I just lived in Kelowna and was a customer.
