Restoring an old shotgun.
A Stevens 107B single shotgun doesn't hold much value. But this old rusted out girl was worthy of some TLC. I slow rusted the barrel, took great care of the box lock internals and worked some magic on the wood.
The wood stock was worthy of restoration. Sanded down to bare wood and a wet sanded to 320 grit.

Looks good. May not be worth a million bucks but the effort to clean and refinish is worth a million to you. Good Job

You did the right thing.
I was a member of a watch and clock club and NOTHING was ever too old, beat up or what have you to fix.
Way to go.

I'll let Larry Potterfield (Midway USA) explain it.

looks really nice; you mentioned " internals " to take care of; anything major that new parts were required?
I have a really old single shot Stevens and I 'm thinking I might need a new part
because the opening lever will not go to battery; it still locks up tight, but when its locked the lever is situated to the left side about 30 degrees and that bothers me.

In the case of the shotgun that I speak of, there were no new parts required. A box lock's butt stock is typically attached with a long bolt that passes through the stock and screws into the rear of the receiver. Once the stock it removed it leaves the internal mechanism of the action open for inspection and/or repairs. It's a much simpler job than those of a side lock. I inspect the hammers for wear as well as the firing pins. In some cases, a damaged part which needs to be replaced can be purchased from places such as WGP or Numrich. However depending on the make and vintage, it may be difficult or near impossible to acquire. In such cases, I have no issues to undertake manufacturing a new part. In the case of your lever, it doesn't seem right. It would have to be dismantled, inspected to see what ails it.
