Default Newell ice report?

Looking at making one final trip out to a destination a little further from home(Edmonton) before the season ends. Ive never been to Newell , but I've heard good things. Just curious how the ice is this late in the season. Whether it's drivable or hikable, just looking for any insight. Also if anyone has any info on the best access points that would be awesome.

Ice is in good shape. 22+ inches. Still hard and good quality.

If you havent been there before stay away from SE corner.

Go where other guys are just move away to your own spot. Download bathymetry map and give it a look.

Kinbrook Island Park is a pretty safe place to get on. Or look at Google Earth.

Good luck.

If you are out that way this weekend, carefull of the pressure ridge that runs from the launch out to the island. Will likely be covered in a nice layer of snow!

Was out today. Solid 20+ inches of ice. Fishing was unusually slow. Saw a bunch on the camera and a buddy caught a few, but they seemed generally uninterested. Water was a bit cloudy. Did see my first Newell white on the camera though.

Interesting, I went out to Tilley b and water clarity ranged from 2-4 feet of visibility in the shallows to 6-7 in the deeper water. Fishing was also really slow for us, good ice where we were although someone went through apparently a week or 2 ago on a different part of the lake
