Default Sportsman Show

Recently moved to Red Deer and am going to the Sportman Show here this weekend. Haven't found much info what will be at the show, fishing wise.
I'm used to crankbait fishing for Bass in Ontario so switching it up for Walleye and pike will be interesting. Is it worth is to go to the show to buy tackle,rods/reels etc???

The outdoorsman show is mostly a show for boats/quads, etc. There are some demonstrations booths for fishing/hunting as well. There is a little bit if fishing, but not great for gear.

The Fishin' Hole/Campers Village show at the end of March is much better for fishing products. Most of the main fishing rod and reel manufacturers are there. Good mix of spin and fly fishing.

If you're going to the one in Edmonton, unless you're shopping for a boat or quad, the upstairs is a waste of time. Most of the good hunting and fishing stuff and demo booths are downstairs.

Default Campers Village/Fishing Hole Outdoorsman Show and Sale

I have made it a habit to visit the Outdoorsman Show every year, where the Boat and Sportsman Show is more about just going to say I did. lol. I find that as far as fishing and camping gear are concerned, the Outdoorsman Show has way better deals and lot more selection. It's usually held at the Mayfield Inn and Suites in Edmonton, and the last time I asked they said it was gonna be on the last weekend of March. The only reason I am planning on going to the Boat and Sportsman this year is to see if I can score a deal on a pontoon, if it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't go.

I do not mind the Sportsman Show in March. Always nice to check out the new boats etc plus hit the downstairs for the hunting/fishing type stuff. Also like checking out the outfitters displays there as well.

The show at the Mayfield in though is as advertised on here. A very good show and if you go, please remember to take your donation for the food bank.

Default Outdoor Show Mayfield Common

I finally saw a banner for the Outdoor Show and Sale, its at the Mayfield Inn and Suites showroom (16615-109th Ave), from March 27-30. Last three years its just been a food bank donation to get in.

As far as what I'm lookin for in a pontoon, I'm lookin for an inflatable with the raised seat, and more than one bladder...I'm just starting to learn how to Fly Fish. lol. I checked out ebay and found one that I liked from Walmart of all places, but they only sell it in the states, and the one on ebay was more expensive...go figure. So, I'll see what they have at the two shows and if I can't decide...then I guess I'm goin on a road trip.

I'm not sure, but there is a Camper's Village in Calgary, so I can't see why not. It's at 7208 MacLeod Trail SE. I'll try to find out next time I'm there.
