My loading bench looks like the inside of a gut shot coyote compared to some of these pics.

Load development fir the .223 Musgrave stopped dead at the initial OAL setting, which actually did not surprise me , being I was shooting Match Kings!
Loaded some more this evening , as well as some 6mmBR for Sunday .
My machinist buddy just sent me a picture of my Musgrave barrel that he was cutting a shoulder on for me so i can mount one of mt soar front sights, and it's done!
All I have to do now is swap the sight of the AO Mauser , it sits on the rear scope base .
It's hard to find good iron sights for the Mausers because of the bolt release, same as the Musgrave which is often mistaken for a Mauser .

Forty two rounds down range with the 6mm-3000X. A few small hiccups but preformed very well, for just using random brass & primers and fire forming the cases. Only shot one, 10 shot group at 100yds. looked to be about an inch or less. (To muddy to walk down and measure, just used some random target someone had left behind). The rest all rang the gong at 300yds. So over all, I am pleased with the rifle. Will do some more load development with seating depth and work up a proper load in the future.

bumped the shoulders on 100 brass for my .223, checked the trim, and dumped a boat load of Varget into them , stuck 69 grain Match Kings on top , cleaned the rifle completly, now to send them out to 500 and 800 meters!

So just a follow up on the reloading prosses for the 6mm-3000X.

1) Insert 20 thou. shim in #3 shell holder
2) Starting with 250 Savage once? fired brass. (250-3000 would be best but it
is unobtanium)
3) Deprime
4) Lube of course
5) Run brass into 6mmXC FL die, just kissing the shoulder and necking down
to 6mm. (this also helps to stop mushrooming in later operations as well as
help with the shoulder taper from 21 degrees (250 Savage) to the 16
degrees of the 250-3000.)
6) Run a just large enough mandrel into neck so it will just fit on the neck
turner mandrel.
7) Trim neck walls to 10 thou.
8) Full length resize case in a 44 spl/mag die. (set die about 3/8" higher then
the full ram stroke)
9) Run the case now into a 250-3000 FL die. (slowly)
10) RE- run the case into the 6mm XC die to resize the neck (from the neck turning operation) this will give you ~2-3 thou. neck tension.
11) Trim overall case length if required.
12) Anneal the case
13) Load and shoot.

ALL internal components in the dies have been removed.
Sounds complicated but once you have done it a few times it makes sense and works very well. Steps 6,7,8 & 10 are not needed once the case has been fire formed to your chamber.
Hope this helps someone else if you run into similar problems.

I remounted a couple of scopes with a new scope mounting system. Also prepped some 7mm/338 brass and will weigh out some charges this morning for pressure testing at the range.

learned that in fact 115 d-tacs will stabilize in an 8 twist barrel; even slow at 2640 in a br. did run them up to 2920 without issue; but no promising groups.
re-chambering to 6xc; lets hope this ks tube is better than the last one

I took advantage of yesterdays Alberta sunshine and tested 3 batches of loads for my 260 Rem. It really liked the Hornady 129 spire points putting 5 into .8" sadly I am almost out of these. If anyone has any surplus bullets like these, part# 2620 I would like to buy a few boxes. Cheers, D.H.

Played with new equipment and loaded 100 rounds of 308. Bought Area 419 funnel setup for my Dillon 550b and Lee delux powder measure. The funnel is really nice and powder measure throws very consistent.

Loaded another 15 rounds to test of 224 valkyrie. Bought an RCBS Link powder dispenser. 45 rounds on it now and had 1 light charge. Easy fix with the trickle button. Works great for handling CFE223. Would have bought 1 years ago!

Sorted about 350, 250 Savage brass by head stamp. Now have about 250 R-P brass to size for the 6mm-3000X. Let the games begin.

Also tested a few .17 hornet cases made from .22 Hornet brass, for the new to me CZ 527 American. Hope it shoot as well as my CZ Varmint model.

Been a long time since I've done anything in the gun room. Life has been busy and not in a good way. Till this weekend I couldn't trust myself to be focused enough on the task at hand and at that I had issues. Baby steps. Had a case get stuck then managed to break my tap. Instead of doubling down and going after that case I wrapped it up for the day and went to it the next day after taking a break. Got the case out without further issues - fortunately was able to use a slightly larger tap than what I normally use as the local CT was out of stock on the 1/4x20's. I did first test the larger tap on a different piece of brass to be sure it would work on the stuck case. In the end I managed to get about 100 pieces of 30:06, 100 pieces of .308 and 150 pieces of 20 cal sized, prepped and cleaned also primed the .308. Then loaded a couple of ladders for the .308 to test some time this week, the eldest step daughter wants to learn to shoot and hunt. It was good to get back in there and do something - have quite a large pile of brass that needs tending to. Gotta remember, baby steps. The brass won't spoil sitting there and don't need to get done all at once. It will hep having something that I have to focus on even in short bits

Made it to step (7) on the 6mm-3000X (100 R-P brass). Hopefully get them all loaded tomorrow, then off to the gopher patch over the Easter break.

I tore down and new-to-me 760 in 30-06. Going to send the bbl off with the stripped receiver.

Bbl will get 2" cut off, front sight re-set and the receiver will be drilled for a Williams FP.
