x3. All my Sako 75 rifles look identical to this photo. Action sizes from the III, IV, V and the SM. Most have the 2 piece /rings and bases set up with LOW rings. I have a couple with the Optilock Ringmounts.

All my scopes are Leupold in either Vari-X III's, VX2's and VX3's all with 40mm OBJ with 1" tubes.

Hope the Optilock Ringmounts work for you.

Update: Still having trouble with fit, this would be a lot easier if local dealers had stuff on the shelf. And less expensive.

The Optiloc lows I ordered came in, and they are too low for the 50MM leupold and they are a little high for my old VXII 40mm so could use that scope. But I really want that new scope on the new gun.

Can anyone tell me with certainty that this is how a set of Long optilock bases would face on the gun??

I am looking at the front base and where the ring attaches [on back side of base], I think this would work for my application but have no way of knowing if what is pictured here is the LONG base, the extended hangs the mounts over the ejection port. A front base like Prairiekids and it won't work, I barely had enough room for the scope with the 1 piece.

This is how it came when I bought it, the back base is OK, the front is an extended and I don't want it hanging over the ejection port. Sent these rings and bases back to where I bought them, then ordered the 1 piece based on info from this thread. I had slid the scope forward to set my eye relief in this picture, it wasn't that far forward when I opened the package.

I have a few Sakos and have had many more and I have never run Optiloks.
One of these options is what you need. YMMV.

If there isn't more than 3/8 inch rise they won't work, that is what those 1 piece Sako Optiloks have and the scope touches the barrel.

I run Low, one piece Optilocks for my 42 and 44 mm objectives. Guessing a medium height should work for that larger objective bell.

They only sell them in LOW these days, the ones I have would work with my 40mm objective [see pics above with it set on top of rings] but just not quite for the 50mm.

it could be the rifle was set up properly in the first place and you might want to simply put them back on.

I’ve never seen so much trouble just to mount a scope.

I did not know that the one-piece are only available in Low. Well, if you are set on the scope with that larger objective bezel, you have no other option than the two-piece ring and base. The two-piece are still excellent mounts but that shop set you up with the wrong bases. I have assembled several 85s, different action lengths and different sizes of scopes. I have no idea how to post pics on the forum but if you need, we can connect on a video chat through which I can show you a few different optilock base sets.

Your action is S. The short or long bases will fit (according to your attachment).

This is my 85 with an M action and long bases with low mounts and a 50mm objective (Swaro Z3). Provides .156" (5/32") clearance.

Now that would be like running 18" on the back of my truck and 12" on the front, looks stupid and isn't quite functional. Actually it was mounted way way too far back for my eye relief needs.

Default Solved

Solved, for future reference for anyone else looking for answers.

LA bases, 1" Low Rings. Pretty much exactly the same as CNP in his picture above.
