Default remlin qc

Just for the record, the quality issues with marlin lever guns began to crop up in the last few years before the sale. Those last few years still had jm stamped barrels but many varying issues. After remington moved the plant those issues worsened until they literally ceased production of most of the marlin line-up. They retooled and upped their standards.

Today, new remington produced marlins are well made, reliable firearms, although the fit and finish is not nearly as nice as on those built in their hay day. But to produce and sell a rifle with that quality of finish today in a lever gun imagine we could expect to see a 1 infront of the $600ish price tags.

Maybe they should offer a limited run of fancy grade guns and see if they sell.

About the cross bolt safety. It comes in handy when teaching someone how to manipulate the hammer down to half cock with a round in the chamber. Although I don't use it afield, I have used it occasionally at the range when a cease fire is called (to cycle the gun mt) or when someone starts talking in my 'backswing'. I've never had it engage on its own.

Very true. I have a JM stamped Marlin from that era and it has those quality issues - particularly feeding problems.

If you like iron sights the Winchester 95 in 30/06 is a very nice rifle!
They dont come cheap but the Miruko build are very smooth and shot very good.
