Deer Ribs
Boiled the ribs 1.5 hours, partly to tenderize them but also to boil any excess fat from them.
Then 1 hour at 300F.
Put a sprinkling of Western Steak Spice on, and mixed a couple different sauces, red chilli sauce and some other spicy number.
The bones were trying to pull out as I was lifting them out of the pan.
They were not too bad.

Deer ribs are good but boiling the fat off like you did is a must in my opinion

For sure. I remember I cooked the ribs from the second deer I ever shot, straight in the oven. Damn. I had no idea what deer fat is back then, lol. Nasty stuff to have in one’s mouth.

Yup, turned me off instantly but like mentioned proper prep is the key to good eating.

Well now I know what I've been doing wrong.
I've always just cut off as much fat as I could and then used a pork rib recipie for the cooking.
Now I'm glad I kept the ribs from that Elk.

Yup I boil the deer ribs for an hr and half also , then put them in slow cooker with sweet and sour sauce for a few hrs , taste great with some rice , also do this for moose and elk ,
Before I learned this used to mostly give the to dogs , haven’t did that for a few years now

Some of the best ribs I ever had were from a whitetail. I put a full rack of trimmed ribs beside the campfire and let the fat render out from the slow cook by the coals. The fat dripping on the coals gave a nice smoke to the meat too. I only put granulated garlic and onion on the ribs and 3 hours of slow cooking by the fire and there was no fat sticking to the roof of my mouth. Just wonderful roasted meat tickling my tastebuds. A truly memorable campfire meal. It was -15 outside in my tarp camp that night too.

You were drunk. I'd rather eat my grandma than a rack of deer ribs.
I am certain there isn't a part of the animal that someone on this forum would claim it tastes great - absolute best foot I've ever eaten. Like Chateau Brianne. The meat just dropped off those toes....mmmm

Tried deer ribs a long time ago boiled then roasted, yuck it took ten years or so to forget that nasty deer fat stuck in my mouth. So about ten years someone raves about how good deer ribs were an how they cooked them so I gave them another try, yuk I don’t think a tooth brush could take the deer fat outta my mouth. I usually just smile when someone talks about deer ribs now. Only good thing about deer ribs is they make good coyote bait.
