If hunting shows were more about the hunt and less about the kill I might actually watch them. As they are now I am embarrassed to be lumped into the same group.

True outdoorsmen do not hunt to kill, they kill to have hunted. The trophy, the meat and the memory are the added bonus not the reason for getting out there.

Anyway, IMO the kill shot should never be aired nor should the ridiculous high fiving, fist pumping and self congratulating. Act like that when you are out with me and you better have made arrangements for another ride home. Anyone with an IQ higher than a duck and even the slightest bit of empathy is touched by death. Most admire the beauty of the animal, reminisce for a moment and become truly thankful of the bounty. Dancing around like an idiot is just too pathetic for me to watch.
Completely agree with this, in every respect. Now I don't have to type it. Well said. TC

Above all, no phony excitement, no heavy metal music, and no cheesy attempts at humor or slogans.

I hope some of the younger guys cracking into the business read these pages.
This post sums up exactly why Meateater is so popular. Well worded.

Corrective dental work should be a requirement. Some might know who I'm referring to.

AMEN!!
Right up there with “chuckin the horns”....that kid reminds me of somebody I would have likely beat up in school ,in hockey, and NEVER hang out or hunt with.

No kiddin, does that guy EVER shut up,lol
I feel sorry for Terry from FishTales,I would be tempted to drown that guy on a float trip from Police-McKinnons,he wouldn’t survive beyond “must be nice” in my boat.

I like Shockey,MeatEater,SoloHunters,JP’s Into The Wild(RIP tragic loss ),The Edge,Trapping Inc.and a very short list of a few others.

I love the born and raised outdoors land of the free series on youtube. Not sure I would change a thing except they could maybe hug a little less lol.. But those boys get after it. Meat Eater and Randy Newbergs fresh tracks are good too.

I'm glad some hosts are finally stopping with the 'this animal will feed my family" when it's the 10th animal they shot that season...I've noticed Canada In The Rough now talks a little more of sharing meat with "others" (I assume food banks)...why is this not being shown more on other shows (if they are doing it)...could really show some Antis that it's not just about the kill. A program or two showing meat being enjoyed by people in unfortunate circumstances IN CANADA would be a good thing. I would watch it with pride. They are doing this more on the African hunt shows.

Oh, and I really like watching Trapping Inc., although I'm not a trapper.

Constructive Criticism:

1.) Get rid of the loud, blaring obnoxious music. It adds absolutely nothing to the show.

2.) We get it..we need to sight our rifles in before we hunt. We don't need to see it before every hunt on every show.

3.) If you've seen one deer shot from a tree stand over a food plot, you've seen them all. We don't need a steady diet of it.

4.) Don't whisper... if you have to whisper, use a narrator.. Us old guys can't hear even when you speak up, so when you whisper we hear nothing... We can't read lips.

5.) If you shoot a critter on a game farm, say so.. We figure it out anyway, but don't make it look like you are hunting free range.

For me its the whispering. Annoys me to the point of turning alot of them off. Just over dub your narration. Im a fan of most of randy newbergs stuff and steve rinella, i like they show the misses, the empty handed hunts, the cleaning. the cooking as well. I’ll never watch a show if its a whitetail deer shot over a food plot. I enjoy waterfowl hunting as well but not into waterfowl tv shows.

The owner of WildTV was talking about his Scorpion scope like it is the bees knees. I just can't take people like that seriously.

You cant take that from them. Commercials are the blood and life of any surviving shows.

I am sure your inability to play pro football or hockey has never stopped you from having an opinion on a game.

We who watch are what pays these guys and keeps them on the air. If they want more of us to watch, do them the way we enjoy and like watching them. Simply choosing not to watch just guarantees fewer show to watch in the future because no sponsor is going to support shows with no or low viewer counts.
