Default Nordegg River Trout

I was out hiking along the Nordegg River west of the Sunchild road, some nice holes but few and far between, tried a couple likely looking spots with the fly rod, hooked 2 decent fish but broke them off. Not a sole around, dosen't look like it gets fished much. No garbage, no foot prints or any other sign of people. Has anybody else on here fished it and what luck did you have?

It's a big fast river. Tough to fish.
From what I can see.
I usually fish the blackstone or cardinal instead.
I'll have to try it this summer.

Love Nordegg, sometimes i do not even bring a rod with me just to go for the beauty of the wildlife and nature side of things, very relaxing.

.

I think your talking about the Brazeau river, the Nordegg river isn't big or fast.

Sean, have you fished the Nordegg River? It's headwaters start northeast of Nordegg and flows northeast eventually dumping into the Brazeau river downstream of the Brazeau resevoir.

I have many times. Bring bear spray + extra person. I know of guides who are baiting for bears along the river and have said there are many in the area right now.

There are some real nice pools if you like hiking, but again you are right they are few and far between. Still a nice river to fish though.

Thanks FishHunter, I'll keep an eye out for bears, I'll bring someone who can't run as fast as me!!. I thought it was kinda nice that it isn't too popular, I like fishing away from the crowds and streamside trails. Don't really care if I don't catch anything.
