Alberta Slam / Super Slam ?
Just curious how many of you have completed an Alberta Slam ( Alberta only ) .Either with a single weapon, or with a combination? I for one think it's pretty cool for the few that may have accomplished something like that, especially with a single weapon, like a bow or muzzle loader. Just wondering if anyone else cares about something like this??? Or does something like this even exist ???
Here's my list of 10
• Whitetail ( Buck )
• Mule Deer ( Buck )
• Moose ( Bull)
• Elk ( Bull )
• Bighorn Sheep ( Ram )
• Antelope (Buck)
• Cougar
• Black Bear
• Wolf
• Coyote
My criteria for an Alberta Slam is , medium to large game, on a open, general, or draw tag. It has to be a hunt that isn't limited to a once in a lifetime hunt, much like the bottom 3 !!!.
• Mountain goat
• Grizzly Bear *
• Buffalo
For the lucky few who pulled a hunt of a life time, or are old enough to add the extra 3 , how many have, I guess then the Alberta Super Slam out of 13???

I feel fortuante to live in a province that allows me the oppoturnity to hunt a huge variety of game. I also feel fortuante to have arrowed 7 / 10 , hopefully soon i can finish off my Alberta Slam. I pray that I live long enough to have a chance at perhaps a super slam, one day...maybe!

I'm missing 4 out of the 13, loper/cat/buff and grizz. I will be getting the antelope and cat, maybe the bison, not too sure about GB though. All with the rifle, and three species with a bow (whitetail, mulie and moose).

I've been lucky enough to take all 10. I've also taken a goat and grizz but not in Alberta, although I did pass up a grizz the last year of the hunt. Still no bison but maybe the draw Gods will smile on me this year.

I'm missing GB, buffalo, cougar and wolf, although, my goat didn't come from Alberta. Should caribou be in there as well? There used to be a season in Alberta for them. I have one of those as well, also not from Alberta.

this is potty's brainchild, but im sure the intent is that the animals must be taken in alberta. wouldnt be much of an alberta slam if the trophies were taken somewhere else.

Oh I know, I just thought that if Grizzly bear was on there it would make sense for caribou to be there as well.

Alberta Slam to me would be shoot one of every species that you can get a tag for. Makes sense no?

Never had much desire to hunt grizzly or goat. Buffalo might be fun and a whole pile of meat.
I think I may have held a cougar licence once or twice but can not remember actively hunting them.
I have had the pleasure and success of hunting and killing all the others at least once.
I talked to a fellow who told me how he had shot a bull moose and a white-tail buck the same day. I said that has to be fairly rare. He said Ya I've only done that once before.

7/10. Having a hell of a time getting a Bighorn. AND not for lack of trying....lots of "close" ones....
I've been hunting for 25 years and have never had the cross hairs on a cougar or a wolf. Seen lots of wolves-sans gun...

I've got all but the cat, bear and wolf. I have been close on the wolf while elk hunting and have seen a few blacks but have never gone out for them or even carry a tag most of the time.

My other half went Buffalo hunting way way up north...The land is not very accessible.
The landowners don't want hunters on their lands.
But they did bring a small one back .....eating Buffalo for over a year now

Did get the top ten and one of the bottom three. Have five species with the bow. Sure glad I live here and not in a place there is only one or two species to hunt.

Does it count if one was shot in self defense? If so, I'm at 7 for 10. Missing Bighorn, Antelope & wolf. 0 for 3 on the super slam.

I've taken 10/10 on the first list and 0/3 on the second list. Praying to the special license gods there! I've been fortunate to mix it up a lot and take plenty by rifle, muzzle loader and archery. Gotta love Alberta.

That's pretty cool guys. Cheers to the guys that have all 10, that great feat in my mind. The diversity in terrain, style, and techniques involved is pretty amazing, along with the dedication and some luck. Very , very rewarding and fullfilling...Congrats and good luck.
I forgot that I have an Elk with my rifle, so that puts me at 8/10, but I've been really trying to put a Ram, an Elk, and a wolf down with a bow for the clean sweep with archery tackle (and hopefully all P&Y, but it's tough).
For the guys that have 8,9 + , is it something that happened, or was it something you strived / or striving to complete???
