One of the other great things about getting old is that the eyes can't deal with shake like they used to. While a younger hunter may be well served by 10x binos, the shake may just be too much for extended glassing for older eyes. Many older hunters find far less eye strain in 8x binos and can actually glass more efficiently with them. And old is a relative term...lol
There is no one right answer to this question for all people.
