Exactly, gonna go fishing tommorow and once I leave my house the people I'm most likely to be closest to for the day are my neighbours in their house as I'm leaving.

Next day probably take the kids to a sled hill out in the country. Same thing, ain't nobody going to be around.

If you can't imagine a way to social distance within your world by all means stay at home and stay safe. If you're feeling cooped up and need to get out friggin get out just be smart about it. We aren't on total lockdown.

The world ain't ending but look at the world wide numbers the way they are jumping we don't even know how many have mild symptoms etc etc. Shut er down I say. The cities are where it's gonna spread and where most of the people will unknowingly spread it. The last thing you want is 200000 visits in one weekend to the same disgusting pit toilet shacks. That's exactly where this thing gets out of hand. They gonna shUT it down don't kid yourself.

Come June 16th I'm heading down to the Livingstone area for a week. In the past I rarely see anyone there and no one ever would get close to a horrible casting flyfisher like me.
But if they do cancel/ sport fishing(See Nova Scotia; do they offer refunds for your license?

More fishing access closed to vehicles.

https://myemail.constantcontact.com/...id=MG8EeMGttlo

In the interests of public safety,,, I would think a ban on vehicle access to parking lots for liquor and pot stores is in order as well,,,, access by walk in only!!!!

Default we have time

heck, the snow wont be gone for 2 weeks, then it'll be another couple weeks 'til the ice is gone from most lakes so we don't need to rush to any decisions right now....

Yeah for sure. I would say longer than 2 weeks outside of the Edmonton. I'm near Devon and just walked through the yard today and it was over my boots and close to knee deep. We just are not seeing much for temps in the next 2 weeks even. Maybe 2 days of +6 or +7. We need a good week of staying above zero overnight and some double digit temps. I'm think the snow will be around until last week of April. Then the ice after that.

Sun is a lot higher in the horizon this time of year. Couple sunny days with some wind will make short work of snow pack around the capital region.

Latest email from the ACA:

Quote:
Fishing may be a great way to physically distance yourself from others. If you do encounter other anglers out there, please keep fishing friendly by keeping a safe distance from other parties of at least one fishing rod!

(minimum of 6 feet / 2 metres)
So if someone invades your space, poke them with your rod and say "social distancing, please"

I have been tempted to do that a few times even before Covid19

Now if only it would warm up so I can hit a river or two

Good news appears to be on the horizon. Starting next Wednesday, a warming trend. Could be as high as 15 by the weekend. Me likey!

If I can’t get my new rig out on the water when the ice is out I am going to be severely disappointed.

Does anyone know what backcountry roads are closed specifically? I know the Spray Lakes road is closed just west of Canmore, but what about some of the other secondary highways, like the 549 past Three Point Creek or Homestead Road off Highway 68? Was planning to head out on a bear hunt before the season closes, but if all the back roads are blocked off then it'll be a long drive and a short hunt.

I am starting to think that we need to raise a glass and a hope for 2021.

Public and EID campgrounds are all closed but I haven't heard any word on boat ramps. Does anyone know whether they will open this summer or not?

they haven't talked about it yet, but I'd bet closer to open water season (mid-May -ish) they'll get asked about it and likely have a response. For now, everyone just stay home....don't even worry about it.

Respect social distancing laws yes but we are still not on lockdown

The risk of Covid19 is at its greatest in high density or high traffic areas within our towns and cities. The high risk areas are not our lakes and rivers

Common sense please

What about the private cabins on the edge of the campground, do they now not have access through the park? I smell a lawsuit.

There are a series of very large cabins that are accessed through the park gates and then a private road. These are all beautiful waterfront.
