Default Grouse Day 1

Took a short trip today for a couple walks. Not a hint of a bird! Hoping for some frost in the next 7-10 days to break down some foliage.
Anyone else out on Day 1?

I was out hiking near Abraham lake (not hunting). Saw some grouse beside some gravel roads.

Saw one yesterday in 514. Too much ground cover. One good frost is all I ask for!

Ditto.
It's a whole different ball game when you can see more than 3 feet off the road/trail. In my experience, the last week of Sept + first couple weeks of October are dynamite for grouse.

Default Winner winner chicken dinner!!!

And one proud papa!
My girl worked the dog and got these two today in a 1/2hour walk in the fall forest.

...... And we had a bear warning at the school today.

... And the neighbor came over to tell us a bear is hanging around our house....Yet again...

Lol

Sigh..

Life is good boys!!

Went out for a short morning hunt with my 11 year old daughter yesterday, walked 4-5km heard one grouse and we both saw the second as it flew away of course. Had breakfast as the sun peaked over the Purcells, it was a great day.
