First time duck hunting opening morning was beautiful.

Few decoys out. Had the pleasure of my first two birds ever. Quite a challange recovering the second bird as it fell just out of chest wader range. Had to go for a swim which ended my morning. But that's the fun of it all. Two was Enough for me to learn plucking and gutting. Good luck to the rest of you guys out there.

We had a pretty good opener with twelve birds between two of us.

If you have a small spinning rod, make up a wood plug with a few big single / double hooks so there is one on each side. You can use it get those birds that fall a little (sometimes a lot) farther than you can wade.

Try that for a bit, then get a dog.

That's a very beautiful pic! That's as good to me as a locked up flock right over the dekes!

Anything you'd like to know is on their website.

I really like it and use it lots for shooting clays and teaching new shooters. Very cool product.

Here's a few from this mornings hunt.....slow morning, but no fault of the ducks...some yahoo's hunting the same water we were were emptying their guns on any birds that got inside 100yds of them, literally shot at least 150+ rounds between 2 of them. Ducks just went high and headed to the next water after they opened up, so it was a short hunt for us. They were still lettin em rip as we were packing up, lol.

PS - Ignore the fact I'm grinning like an idiot, my buddy made me laugh right as he took this pic and it's the only one we got (didn't check it till now), haha

Had a very good shoot Friday and Saturday afternoon despite the fact there were very ducks, bright sunlight and no wind!
The geese kept coming in ones and twos which we like.
Put a few on the deck with the black powder cartridge gun a swell!

Friday's birds

Saturday's take

Cat

Here's a pic of the southern opener. 32 quackers. I think 4 were pintails. Quite a bit of color on some of the drake mallards.
